Primary Day: April 26, 2016

Tuesday, April 26 is primary voting day in Maryland. While the PTA does not take a position on which candidates to support, we do encourage you to go to the polls and vote on Tuesday, April 26 (polls are open from 7am-8pm).

Besides primary elections for party candidates for President, Congress, etc. there are also candidates running for Montgomery County Board of Education at Large positions. You do NOT need to be registered with a party to vote for the Montgomery County Board of Education At Large. You may vote for ONE candidate; the two candidates receiving the most votes will appear on the general election ballot. Members of the Board of Education determine and enforce policies that govern MCPS and are responsible for the direction and operation of the school system such as establishing curriculum guides and courses of study; preparing and requesting the annual capital and operating budget; appointing the Superintendent of Schools; and initiating, reviewing and discussing educational issues.
