Dear Parents, Teachers, Staff, Students and Concerned Citizens (yes, all of you are represented!)
Thank you so, so much for your support in signing the letter in support of an “Away All Day” cell phone policy at MCPS schools! This letter was launched by a strong core group of MCPS parent advocates who have worked for months on this issue, including advocating directly with MCPS and the Board of Education.
Since this letter was launched on March 5, less than a month ago, we have gathered over 1,000 signatures. We are at 1,109 as I write this. That’s amazing! Thanks so much for all of you who spread the word.
We have a golden opportunity this month to let MCPS know that we are behind them if they move towards phone-free schools, as they are currently considering what revisions to make to COG-RA, the regulation on personal mobile devices. Like at most school districts, teachers and staff likely want this, but parents are the biggest obstacles. Let’s show them that there are many parents who would support this policy, and we want them to be strong and take a stand!
We need your help to keep spreading the word. The fact that Pyle and North Bethesda were each able to get hundreds of signatures tells me that we’re only limited in our reach, not our support. Please let your neighbors and family know as well, as this letter is also open to MoCo residents who aren’t affiliated with MCPS. Ensuring that students have a distraction-free learning environment ultimately affects us all.
Let’s push to double the number we currently have over the next few weeks! Sign the letter
