Bannockburn Elementary PTA

The 3rd Annual BES PTA Day of Service is coming up Wednesday, January 21st! Students will supplement their learning about MLK Jr. through a hands-on community service activity, during school, to support our neighbors. Students will hear from a speaker with lived experience of homelessness and build cold weather kits for Miriam’s Kitchen.  Parents, we would love your help!  Please sign up to volunteer HERE or help us purchase supplies by sending a Venmo donation of $10

The PTA’s In-School Activities VPs have organized yet another fun and educational assembly for our students next Wednesday, this time from organization. In this assembly, award-winning actress and Smithsonian Scholar Mary Ann Jung will bring her show, Margaret Brent and the Indians! Registration for Winter Before- and After-School Clubs OPENS THIS MONDAY, DEC. 8, 10AM and runs until Sunday, January 4 (clubs are facilitated by the PTA and administered by Baroody Camps).   Choose from NEW offerings like Labubus and Crafts with Ms. Fleming, Typing Skills, and Pop Star Dance, as well as fan favorites like Pickleball with Ms. V and creative writing and art classes with Ms. Thaler. The BES PTA’s Annual Fund campaign is going strong–running from now to the end of December, funds raised will support educational resources and school events that spark our students’ creativity and bring families closer.  Our goal for this year’s Annual Fund Campaign is $10,000. It’s a big goal, but we know how strong Bannockburn is when we pull together!  Your donations will support:

The Montgomery County Council of Parent Teacher Associations (MCCPTA) Technology Committee invites all families to share your views regarding use of school-issued Chromebooks! Parents have reached out to us to express their concerns, and we wanted to provide a way for individuals to share their specific concerns, and also collect data and testimonials to share with MCPS and the Board of Education.

As you heard on Principal Serino’s Sunday update, the PTA hosted an amazing assembly last week where Grammy-Nominated beatboxer Christlyze Bacon and six-string electric cellist Wytold introduced our Bobcats to a fusion of classical music and hip hop. This culminated in a performance of “Golden” from K-Pop Demon Hunters (a BES favorite) and the spark of recognition and excitement among the young fans was incredible! Watch
